INGLEWOOD NIGHT MARKET
Strolling, shopping, street food, music, artists and more!
Tents, a trunk show in car trunks in the National Hotel parking lot, artisans, puppetry, fab street food by fab chefs, live entertainment, and some of Inglewood’s coolest merchants, all on the street.
Despite a pretty rainy night, the first ever Inglewood Night Market, on June 14th, 2013, was an all-around success: musicians, artisans, umbrellas, street food, lanterns, and folks from all over the city who came down to hang out in Inglewood's vibrant inner city village. It was as though Calgarians have been secretly longing for a night market. Our packed July market let everyone know that post-flood Inglewood was open for business again. July's Stampede-themed market included live country tunes by Calgary singer/songwriter Matt Masters with Craig McCaul, and a late-night performance by the iconic local Rick Climans Jazz Group. August's market included appearances by performers from the Calgary International Street Theatre Festival, and September's market featured tunes by local songsters the Backyard Betties and New Street.
Take a look at some great pictures from our June market, a photo gallery from our July market. Here are some of the performers, artisans, and vendors from our August market, and here's where you can see some stuff from our September market, including a link to a CBC news story about us (at about 1:55)!
Post-flood Inglewood is open for business!
Inglewood was one of the neighbourhoods hardest hit by the flood that devastated Calgary in June 2013. However, thanks to the efforts of amazing volunteers and neighbours, Calgary's oldest neighbourhood is dry once more and all the wonderful, unique shops along 9th Avenue are back in business. The Night Market, on 10th St SE at 9th Ave (right in front of Cafe Gravity and Bite, and right around the corner from the Esker Foundation) was proud to be part of the post-flood efforts to bring Calgarians back into the heart of the city.
